Frequently Asked Questions:

What will a mentor do for me?

A mentor is simply someone who wants to be your friend. Most girls ask for a mentor because they are looking for someone they can talk to about life’s issues. A mentor is not there to judge you or tell you what to do. She is there to care.

How much time is involved with Teen Mom Connection?

The time commitment is one to two hours per week for a period of one year. We have large group meetings twice a month. Other meetings during the month are between you and your mentor, whenever the two of you want to get together. Take a walk in the park, visit a local mall, or just talk on the phone, it’s all up to you!

How much will it cost?

There is no cost to join Teen Mom Connection. We do occasionally have events that involve a small cost, but these are usually covered by TMC funds, and most events are totally free! We never charge for childcare.

What are the age requirements?

We work with moms as young as they come, up to 21 years of age.

Can I bring my children with me?

Your children are always welcome when you meet with your mentor, and on most outings. Childcare is provided during our monthly, Tuesday night meetings.

Where and when does TMC meet and what do we do?

Usually, TMC meets twice a month, once on a Tuesday night and once on a Saturday or Sunday during the day. The Tuesday night meetings run about 1 ½ hours, and are held at Streamline Church (Land Park); childcare is provided. These meetings usually involve a speaker who will talk on a relevant subject like parenting or college. The weekend meetings are just fun times. We might take the kids to the zoo, have a barbecue, or play games at a local teen center. Children are usually included in these activities.

How do I get to these events?

Your mentor will arrange to pick both you and your child(ren) up. She will take you to and from most events. You are also welcome to drive yourself if you have transportation.

Can my boyfriend come?

There will be some events that guys are encouraged to come to, but for the most part, this is a program for teen moms.

Do I have to go to church?

Although Teen Mom Connection is a Christian-based program, you will never be required to attend church.
